TIMPOTS LEGACY FOUNDATION

enroute to school

Down Memory Lane

One of the first community memory threads invited TIMPOTS to revisit a journey they had made hundreds of times, but never forgotten: their daily route to school.

From the 1950s to the 2020s, alumni shared nostalgic stories of buses, bicycles, Lambrettas, rickshaws, and long walks, tracing familiar landmarks such as Jagadamba Junction, Daba Gardens, Thompson's Street, the Old Post Office, and KGH. What began as different routes from different corners of the city always ended at the same destination, the Timpany School gates.

The thread sparked a flood of cherished memories: crowded bus rides, conversations with friends, missed buses, favourite roadside shops, and the little adventures that made every school day unique.

These stories are now being preserved as part of the Timpany Memory Map, a growing archive celebrating not just where we studied, but the journeys that brought generations of Timpots together. After all, we all took different roads... but ended up at the same gate.
