Celebrating
the Life of
Dr. Mercy
Jeyaraja Rao
(our beloved JAZZ)
6 April 2026
Memorial Service for our beloved Jazz was a celebration of
Music, Memory & Legacy
Held at Timpany School Chapel, Vizag
On this day, generations of TIMPOTS gathered to celebrate the extraordinary life of Dr. Mercy Jeyaraja Rao, affectionately known as Jazz. What began as a memorial became something far greater a homecoming that reunited students, teachers, and friends whose lives had been touched by one remarkable educator. The gathering was filled with music, shared memories, laughter, and tears. Familiar school songs echoed through the hall, old friendships were rekindled, and alumni from every generation came together to honour the woman who had inspired them with her unwavering belief, kindness, and compassion.
The presence of retired teachers alongside alumni spanning six decades beautifully reflected the enduring spirit the bond that never broke. It was a powerful reminder that the bonds forged during school transcend time, distance, and generations. More than a tribute, the event became a celebration of a life lived in service to others. It reaffirmed the values that Jazz instilled in thousands of students, integrity, excellence, humility, courage, and above all, the importance of showing up for one another.
For many, the memorial marked the beginning of something new. It sparked conversations about preserving our heritage, honouring our teachers, reconnecting alumni, and carrying forward the values that Jazz embodied. From that shared purpose emerged the vision for the Timpots Legacy Foundation, dedicated to preserving our collective history and strengthening the bonds that unite generations of TIMPOTS. Jazz's legacy continues to live on, not only in the memories we cherish, but in the lives she shaped, the friendships she nurtured, and the community she inspired.
She called us TIMPOTS.
She made us family.
She made us Forever TIMPOTS. Forever Connected.
Forever remembered. Forever cherished. Forever Jazz.
