TIMPOTS LEGACY FOUNDATION

mercy jeyaraja rao

Long before she became the beloved Miss Mercy Jeyaraja Rao, affectionately known as Jazz, the qualities that would define her extraordinary life were already evident.

As a student at Queen Mary's Girls' High School, Visakhapatnam, she was admired for her academic excellence, exceptional command of English, beautiful handwriting, quiet confidence, and natural leadership. A favourite of her English teacher, Mrs. Krishna Bai, she embodied discipline, grace, and purpose from an early age. Her memorable portrayal of Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream reflected the poise and dignity that would later become her hallmark.

These formative years shaped the educator who would go on to inspire generations of TIMPOTS. As Principal of Timpany School, Jazz nurtured not only academic excellence but also the enduring values of integrity, discipline, compassion, self-confidence, and service. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, leaving an indelible mark on thousands of students who carried her lessons into every walk of life.

Her journey reminds us that enduring legacies begin with character, are strengthened through service, and live on in the lives they transform.

Jazz's legacy

Dr. Mercy Jeyaraja Rao, lovingly known as Jazz or Big Miss, was far more than an educator, she was the heart and soul of Timpany for generations of TIMPOTS.

Her greatest legacy was not measured by classrooms, buildings, or years of service, but by the lives she transformed. Through her unwavering belief in every student, she nurtured confidence, inspired excellence, and instilled the enduring values of integrity, compassion, discipline, and service. She had a remarkable ability to make every child feel seen, valued, and capable of achieving more than they imagined. For countless alumni around the world, her timeless message"I think I can. I think I can.", became a guiding philosophy, empowering them to face life's challenges with courage and determination.

Even after her passing, Jazz continued to unite the Timpany family. The outpouring of love, memories, and reconnecting of alumni from across the globe became the catalyst for the creation of the Timpots Legacy Foundation, an enduring commitment to preserve Timpany's heritage, celebrate its teachers, strengthen lifelong bonds, and inspire future generations.

Her influence lives on in every TIMPOT who strives to lead with kindness, purpose, and character.

Her legacy is not simply remembered, it is lived every day.

Forever our Jazz. Forever our Big Miss. Forever the Heartbeat of Timpany
